Indeed, Benoît Gouez, Cellar Master of the Maison Moët & Chandon, chose to vintage the year 2015, thus marking the 76th vintage in the history of the house. That year, the climate was particularly notable, beginning with a mild and wet winter followed by a hot and dry summer. Nevertheless, the coolness of the end of the summer allowed for optimal maturation, giving rise to juicy, ripe and concentrated grapes, resulting in a spectacular vintage. The 2015 Grand Vintage by Moët & Chandon is a harmonious blend composed of 44% Pinot Noir, 24% Pinot Meunier and 32% Chardonnay, all vinified and aged in vats. This vintage champagne has an intense and luminous color, dotted with fine lively bubbles. On the nose, it reveals a delicate bouquet of white flowers, fresh brioche and fruit paste. On the palate, it is immediately enveloping with a generous and ample structure that coats the palate. The mid-palate reveals floral notes and a subtle menthol touch. The finish, meanwhile, is very elegant, with a slight bitterness evoking almond. This extra brut champagne is perfect as an aperitif or at the start of a meal at a temperature of 9°C.

THE BRAND
The history of the house of Moët begins in 1743 in Épernay with its founder Claude Moët. However, it was under the enlightened leadership of Jean-Rémy Moët, from 1792, that the company really took off by launching into trading. In 1833, the name Chandon joined that of Moët, marking a new era under the leadership of Pierre-Gabriel Chandon. However, the House took on a new dimension when Moët & Chandon, led by Robert Jean de Voguë, successively acquired the Houses of Ruinart and Mercier in 1962 and 1970. Later, the group broadened its horizons by acquiring the perfume house Christian Dior, then by merging with the cognacs Hennessy in 1987, and finally with the leather goods manufacturer Louis Vuitton. This merger resulted in the creation of the brand new LVMH group. Today, Moët & Chandon remains a major player in the world of champagne, with its famous Brut Impérial representing 85% of its production.
