Champagne Moët & Chandon
The history of the Moët house begins in 1743 in Épernay with its founder Claude Moët. However, it was under the enlightened leadership of Jean-Rémy Moët, from 1792, that the company really took off by launching into the trade. In 1833, the name Chandon joined that of Moët, marking a new era under the direction of Pierre-Gabriel Chandon. However, the House took on a new dimension when Moët & Chandon, headed by Robert Jean de Voguë, acquired successively the Ruinart and Mercier houses in 1962 and 1970. Later, the group broadened its horizons by acquiring the Christian Dior perfume house, then by merging with Hennessy cognacs in 1987, and finally with the leather goods manufacturer Louis Vuitton. This merger resulted in the creation of the brand new LVMH group. Today, Moët & Chandon remains a major player in the world of champagne, with its famous Brut Impérial representing 85% of its production. Moët & Chandon offers an impressive variety of champagnes, ranging from the essential Brut and Rosé to the prestigious Grand Vintage and luxurious limited editions. Each bottle of Moët & Chandon embodies a unique expression of the house’s terroir and the exceptional talent of its winemakers.
