The Les Pommiers cuvée is the result of a brand new creation by Philippe Lancelot. It comes from a mass selection of Meuniers planted in 1968 by Philippe's grandfather and father. The lieu-dit "Les Pommiers", extending over 22.77 ares, overlooks the town of Épernay and benefits from exposure to the rising sun, ideal for this delicate grape variety. Harvested at optimum maturity, this cuvée was vinified in vats and oak barrels, with minimal use of sulfur and a very light dosage to preserve the natural balance of the champagne. This extra brut vintage champagne reveals aromas of quince, hay, brioche, redcurrant and peach, offering a rich and complex tasting. Accompanying an entire meal or as an aperitif, served at a temperature between 12 and 14°C, this champagne offers a unique taste experience.

THE BRAND

In the early 19th century, Jean-Baptiste Lancelot began his winemaking career in Cramant while also serving as Head Winemaker at Mumm. His son, Jean, also involved in several houses, began bottling champagne from his own vineyards. The first sales took place just after the Second World War. Subsequently, Albert, one of Jean’s sons, trained in oenology and married Brigitte Pienne, whose family owned vineyards in Monthelon, south of Epernay. In 1967, the properties were merged, giving birth to the Lancelot-Pienne house. In 1995, their son Gilles, a trained oenologist, took over the reins. Gilles Lancelot joined forces with Céline Perceval, and today, they reside in one of the magnificent homes in Cramant, formerly owned by Mumm. In 2012, the transition to biodynamic practices was initiated on all plots, leading to obtaining AB Ecocert certification in 2014, Demeter in 2015 and Biodyvin in 2020.
