The Brut Nature from the Alfred Gratien house is a harmonious marriage between expressiveness and liveliness. It is a creation carefully crafted by the Cellar Master, Nicolas Jaeger, who wanted to highlight the freshness of the grapes and the authenticity of the terroir. This champagne is composed of three main Champagne grape varieties: Chardonnay (41%), Pinot Noir (32%), Pinot Meunier (27%). This brut nature champagne also benefits from the addition of 15% reserve wines, giving it an additional patina and suppleness. This Brut Nature is vinified and aged with precision in small 228-litre oak barrels, and with blocked malolactic fermentation. Thus, the expression of the terroir is preserved and reveals a luminous colour and a calm and regular effervescence, highlighted by fine and numerous bubbles. On the first nose, its intensity is revealed by aromas of dried and candied fruits, while on the second nose, subtle notes of hazelnut, walnut and jasmine emerge, offering an evolving olfactory experience. On the palate, a frank and tonic attack reveals a refreshing liveliness, carried by a limestone and tangy minerality that prolongs the sensation of freshness until the finish, where the liveliness persists with brilliance. At a temperature of 8°C, this champagne will pair perfectly with dishes with a firm texture such as lobster, raw ham, small game birds, old Gouda or old Mimolette.
