THE BRAND
Champagne Charles Heidsieck was founded in 1851 by the nephew of the owner of Piper-Heidsieck. Charles Heidsieck's great-uncle founded the Maison de Champagne Heidsieck et Cie and Charles grew up among the vines, loved by his mother, Emilie Henriot, and his sisters, in a family governed by the traditions of Reims. Charles became a free-spirited and soft-spoken traveler and gentleman entrepreneur, focused on his champagne business. With his distinguished charm and business acumen, he captivated America and within months became a prominent figure in fashionable society. Charles worked hard to make a name for himself and his champagne. Among the treasures of the House, the team of winemakers is honored in an incredible number of wines patiently put into reserve. Selected and reserved for their aromatic potential, these wines are destined to play a role in the blend of Charles Heidsieck champagne . Today, production takes place alongside sister company Piper-Heidsieck in a state-of-the-art, functional vat room on the southern outskirts of Reims. The Caves Charles Heidsieck are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and comprise over eight kilometres of galleries, thirty metres underground. Charles Heidsieck is one of the most awarded Champagnes in the world. Its Cellar Masters have been honoured no fewer than twelve times over an eighteen-year period. The Champagnes themselves have also won numerous competition awards, with the Brut Réserve winning over 20 medals since 2012.
