The 2015 Blanc de Blancs from Alfred Gratien is an invitation to discover a generous champagne, rich in aromas and with real aging potential. Made from Chardonnay mainly from the prestigious Grands Crus terroirs of Avize and Cramant de la Côte des Blancs, this vintage blanc de blancs champagne embodies the excellence and quality characteristic of the House. Vinified and aged in 228-liter oak barrels, with blocked malolactic fermentation, this champagne has a luminous golden color, announcing freshness and maturity, accompanied by a fine and persistent effervescence. It was awarded the "coup de cœur" in the Guide des meilleurs vins de France. On the nose, it is open and complex, delivering initial notes of white fruits followed by gourmet aromas of brioche, butter and toast. On the palate, the attack is supple, marked by a creamy and consistent material. Its velvety texture is supported by freshness and subtle acidity, while the long finish, marked by a saline minerality, completes this sensory experience. This Blanc de Blancs cuvée pairs perfectly with delicate dishes such as langoustines, sea urchins, sweetbreads or even veal grenadin, promising an unforgettable symphony of flavors with each tasting. Served at a temperature of 9°C, it reveals all its qualities.

THE BRAND

The history of Alfred Gratien champagnes begins in 1864, when its eponymous founder established his own Champagne house in Epernay. Ten years later, he joined forces with Albert Jean Meyer of Saumur. Following the death of Alfred Gratien, Jean-Albert Meyer took over the reins of the company, with the support of his widow. Thus, in 1896, the company adopted the name Gratien & Meyer. In 1936, the Seydoux family entered the business following a marriage, but management remained in the hands of the Meyers. The Seydoux continued to run the Champagne house until its acquisition in 2000 by the German group Henkell & Co, the European leader in champagnes. It should be noted that the Jaeger family has maintained a tradition over four successive generations, holding the position of cellar master of the house since 1905. Today, Nicolas Jaeger holds this prestigious position. Within the Jaeger family, the oenologists of the Alfred Gratien Champagne house perpetuate ancestral know-how, passed down from generation to generation for four generations. What makes their champagnes so unique is the first fermentation which is carried out exclusively in small 22-litre oak barrels. This method allows the natural aromas of the grapes to be preserved intact, hence the house's choice not to resort to malolactic fermentation. Alfred Gratien champagnes, known for their exceptional quality and delicate aromas, are regularly praised by national and international juries. Recently, the house won a total of 11 awards at the spring tasting of the prestigious MUNDUS vini international wine awards as well as the 21st Berlin Wine Trophy, confirming its place among the most distinguished champagne producers.
