THE BRAND
The Champagne House was founded as Pommery Greno in 1858 by Alexandre Louis Pommery and Narcisse Greno. Alexandre’s widow, Louise Pommery dedicated the company to the production of Champagne, soon becoming one of the region’s leading Champagne brands. In 1874, Madame Pommery, affectionately known as the Lady of the Roses, created the first brut vintage in the history of Champagne. Today, this revolutionary dry style is now the standard in Champagne. Cuvée Louise Champagne is created in Louise Pommery’s name. In 1874, Pommery created the very first successful Brut Champagne. To ensure the quality associated with this original innovation, Pommery sourced grapes from 300 ha of Grand Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and Côtes de Blancs. The consistent quality, variety and innovation of nine different vintages, from Brut Royal to the divine Cuvée Louise, set Pommery apart from other Grandes Marques. Pommery has some of the finest cellars in Reims, with over 18 kilometres of galleries dug into the chalk. Located some 30 metres underground, they maintain the wine at a constant temperature of 10°C throughout the year. Pommery Champagnes are expertly crafted by Cellar Master, Clément Pierlot. Pommery’s 10th Cellar Master oversees the entire operation, from vine to press to bottle, producing thousands of bottles per year, aged in a network of 18km of underground cellars; responsible for blending the House’s various vintages, such as the iconic Brut Royal, Brut Millésimé and Cuvées de Prestige, Cuvée Louise and Cuvée Louise Rosé.
