THE BRAND
Francis Boulard and his daughter Delphine perpetuate a family winemaking heritage that goes back six generations, with the first recorded ancestor born in 1792 during the French Revolution. This historical lineage is a testament to the deep wine culture anchored in their roots. Francis Boulard's winemaking history begins with his grandfather, Julien Boulard, who passed on his passion to him at the age of 14. Guided by Julien, Francis plowed the vines behind Bijou, a sturdy Ardennes horse. Resisting mechanization, Julien preserved tradition, plowed his 2 hectares of vines and sold his sclair champagnes to the champagne houses. It was his son, Raymond Boulard, who took this tradition further by starting to bottle champagne in 1952. The 1970s marked Francis' entry into the family business, quickly entrusting him with the responsibilities of winemaking in 1975. In 2009, the family decided to chart separate professional paths, leading to the end of the Raymond Boulard Champagne house. Francis, accompanied by his wife Jeanne and their daughter Delphine, then established the Champagne Francis Boulard & Fille house. Their vineyard, mainly in Cormicy, northwest of Reims, in the Massif de Saint-Thierry, is based on siliceous limestone terroirs, offering unique characteristics to their champagnes.
