Les Murgiers is the first cuvée from Maison Francis Boulard & Fille. This cuvée fully embodies the distinctive style of Francis Boulard champagnes. Structured and present on the palate, this organic brut nature champagne comes from the clay and limestone terroirs of the Marne Valley and the Massif de Saint-Thierry. The average age of the house's vines is 35 years, guaranteeing remarkable maturity and depth. This cuvée, composed of 50% Meunier, 31% Chardonnay and 19% Pinot Noir, is dominated by the 2021 harvest. It is distinguished by its dosage of 0 g/l, reflecting exceptional purity and authenticity. It is presented in several formats: half-bottle, bottle, magnum, jeroboam and methuselah. It only uses "the cuvée", or the first juice of the first press, for its composition. It is in small old oak barrels, with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation thanks to natural indigenous yeasts that the vinification is carried out. Malolactic fermentation is carried out. Les Murgiers offers a lovely nose of dried fruits, white fruits and citrus fruits, enhanced by a floral note. On the palate, the cuvée reveals itself with a powerful and aromatic material, offering a broad and expressive experience. Served at 10 ° C, this champagne is ideal as an aperitif or accompanied by starters, fish, pies, pâtés, hams such as culatello or pata negra, as well as poultry and white meats. The Les Murgiers cuvée has been awarded several times: 16/20 Gault & Millau Guide Champagnes 2022, 93/100 Robert Parker, 17/20 Bettane & Desseauve 2019, 92/100 Guia Melendo del Champagne 2014, 4 stars Gerhard Eichelmann and 18/20 Jacques Dupont.

THE BRAND

Francis Boulard and his daughter Delphine perpetuate a family winemaking heritage that goes back six generations, with the first recorded ancestor born in 1792 during the French Revolution. This historical lineage is a testament to the deep wine culture anchored in their roots. Francis Boulard's winemaking history begins with his grandfather, Julien Boulard, who passed on his passion to him at the age of 14. Guided by Julien, Francis plowed the vines behind Bijou, a sturdy Ardennes horse. Resisting mechanization, Julien preserved tradition, plowed his 2 hectares of vines and sold his sclair champagnes to the champagne houses. It was his son, Raymond Boulard, who took this tradition further by starting to bottle champagne in 1952. The 1970s marked Francis' entry into the family business, quickly entrusting him with the responsibilities of winemaking in 1975. In 2009, the family decided to chart separate professional paths, leading to the end of the Raymond Boulard Champagne house. Francis, accompanied by his wife Jeanne and their daughter Delphine, then established the Champagne Francis Boulard & Fille house. Their vineyard, mainly in Cormicy, northwest of Reims, in the Massif de Saint-Thierry, is based on siliceous limestone terroirs, offering unique characteristics to their champagnes.
