Maison Franck Bonville owns several plots on the most beautiful terroirs of the Côte des Blancs. Since 2012, Olivier Bonville has decided to isolate his most beautiful vines to create a range of three single-plot vintages. These represent three legendary villages classified as Grand Cru: Oger, Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The Pur Avize cuvée is a Blanc de Blancs champagne made with Chardonnays from three plots located in the heart of the Avize terroir: “Les Avats”, “Les Maladries” and “Les Chapelles”, surrounding the village. The grapes from Avize, a prized terroir of the Côte des Blancs, bring a characteristic freshness, generosity and creamy texture. The year 2018 was distinguished by marked climatic conditions: a cool and humid spring, followed by a dry and hot summer, with a heatwave at the end of August. Afterwards, dry and sunny harvests, combinations guaranteeing a beautiful maturity of the grapes and chiseled Chardonnays. This vintage is vinified and aged in stainless steel vats, with malolactic fermentation carried out. Its Extra brut dosage is 2.5 gr/l. The bottles, sealed with cork, have benefited from an extended aging of five years in the cellars of the House.

THE BRAND

The history of the Franck Bonville Champagne house begins with its founder, Alfred Bonville, in the year 1900. Living in Oger, he began looking for plots of land to plant vines, a bold challenge at a time still marked by the fresh memory of the phylloxera crisis. He chose the Avisé terroir, located a few hours' journey on horseback from his home. In the 1930s, Alfred joined forces with his son Franck. Together, they acquired a winegrower's house in 1937. It was located in the heart of the village, equipped with a press, a cellar and barrels. Despite the economic difficulties of the time, they persevered in their commitment to viticulture. At the end of the war, the Bonville Père et Fils Champagne house launched its own vintages and saw its vineyard expand. In the 1960s, the company acquired tractors, marking a new era in local viticulture. In 1970, Domaine Franck Bonville modernized its winery by replacing the tuns with steel vats, then with stainless steel vats at the end of the 20th century. Olivier Bonville joined the operation in 1996, after having acquired valuable experience in various Corsican and German vineyards.
