Champagne Brut Nature
Brut Nature Champagne is a specific category of Champagne that is distinguished by its complete or near-total absence of dosage, or added sugar. Unlike other types of Champagne that can be more or less sweet, Brut Nature is the driest of all. Champagnes are generally classified according to their residual sugar content, expressed in grams per liter (g/L). A Brut Nature Champagne contains less than 3 g/L of residual sugar, meaning it is virtually unsweetened. This style of Champagne highlights the purity of the fruit, freshness, and minerality of the wine, without being masked by the sweetness of sugar. It offers a crisp, clean tasting experience, with well-balanced acidity and complex aromas. To produce a Brut Nature Champagne, winemakers must often select perfectly ripe grapes and have a great mastery of winemaking techniques to achieve the desired balance without the addition of dosage sugar. This is why these Champagnes are often considered premium products and can be more expensive than other styles of Champagne.
