ALFRED GRATIEN Brut Classique is the signature champagne of the Alfred Gratien house. This brut champagne offers a delicate harmony between fruity notes, gourmet aromas from the undergrowth vinification and a refreshing touch. Composed mainly of Chardonnay (46%), this cuvée seduces with its lightness and freshness. The Pinot Meunier (30%) brings its fruity liveliness and the Pinot Noir completes the whole by offering an elegant structure. It is a champagne vinified and aged with care in small 228-liter oak barrels, without malolactic fermentation. A method preserving the freshness of this Brut Classique while extending its aging potential. It is distinguished by its Brut dosage, around 9 g/l. With a light yellow color dotted with fine and lively bubbles, this champagne reveals complex aromas of biscuits, pastries and white fruits on the nose. This then evolves towards notes of citrus fruits, white flowers and fresh butter. On the palate, a frank attack gives way to chalky and mineral nuances, highlighting its lightness and freshness. Its clean and long finish completes this sensory experience. This Brut Classique cuvée is the ideal accompaniment for an aperitif dinner, especially with savory or sweet petits fours. Served at a temperature of 9°C, it offers a most enjoyable tasting to share with friends or family.

THE BRAND

The history of Alfred Gratien champagnes begins in 1864, when its eponymous founder established his own Champagne house in Epernay. Ten years later, he joined forces with Albert Jean Meyer of Saumur. Following the death of Alfred Gratien, Jean-Albert Meyer took over the reins of the company, with the support of his widow. Thus, in 1896, the company adopted the name Gratien & Meyer. In 1936, the Seydoux family entered the business following a marriage, but management remained in the hands of the Meyers. The Seydoux family continued to run the Champagne house until its acquisition in 2000 by the German group Henkell & Co, the European leader in champagnes. It should be noted that the Jaeger family has maintained a tradition over four successive generations, holding the position of cellar master of the house since 1905. Today, Nicolas Jaeger holds this prestigious position. Within the Jaeger family, the oenologists of the Alfred Gratien Champagne house perpetuate ancestral know-how, passed down from generation to generation for four generations. What makes their champagnes so unique is the first fermentation, which is carried out exclusively in small 22-liter oak barrels. This method allows the natural aromas of the grapes to be preserved intact, hence the house's choice not to resort to malolactic fermentation. Alfred Gratien champagnes, known for their exceptional quality and delicate aromas, are regularly praised by national and international juries. Recently, the house won a total of 11 awards at the spring tasting of the prestigious MUNDUS vini international wine awards as well as the 21st Berlin Wine Trophy, confirming its place among the most distinguished champagne producers.
